Today's Magnificat features the Gospel of Luke 9:28-36, and I'm particularly struck by the passage where a voice from the cloud proclaims, "This is my chosen Son; listen to him." The passage continues: "After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. They fell silent and did not at that time tell anyone what they had seen."

This leads me to wonder why the disciples chose to keep their experience a secret. Furthermore, if they remained silent at the time, how did this event become recorded in the Bible for posterity?
